V2B1 General Information
When it comes to Stormwater Treatment,
don't fish in troubled waters!
Eighty percent of the pollution to North America’s fresh
water resources can be attributed to storm water runoff. V2B1 is our answer to
non-point source discharge pollutants. Sediments contaminated by hydrocarbons
and their floating residuals flow freely from paved, impervious sites into storm
water collection systems. Mitigated wetlands and storm water ponds are
historically accepted as the method of controlling storm water quality. While
ponds and wetlands are, on one hand, an effective treatment for non-point source
discharges, they occupy valuable commercial property and create an open water
liability (i.e. school applications). V2B1 has also been designed for gross
particulate removal upstream of constructed ponds, therefore extending the
frequency interval for required pond maintenance.
V2B1 makes optimum use
of two consecutive purification steps.
V2B1 consists of 2 circular precast structures: An upstream
swirl-chamber/vortex separator (first structure) and a floatables collection
chamber and outlet chamber (second structure). Swirl-chamber technology combined
with vortex design principles, effectively treat the storm water by removing and
retaining sediments and floatables from site runoff.
Dimensioning.
Industry standards consider the two month storm event to be a
rainfall with intensity, duration and frequency sufficient enough to create
run-off velocities that "flush" a site of non-point source pollutants.
Each system is custom designed by Environment 21 engineers using local
precipitation data to ensure optimum performance during the full range of storm
events. Sizing of the system also
depends upon recurrence interval and flow rate information provided for that
site’s storm drainage design. Please contact our design engineers for free
